Played in the Golden Ears Open this past weekend. Shot rounds of 69-70 (-5) to finish tied for 3rd with Bryn Parry. Canadian Tour Member Ryan Williams won with a 7 under par total.
I like having Jo caddie for me as she keeps me relaxed on the course. When I'm relaxed and having fun.....I usually play my best golf! We will be back at it at this weekends Golden Ears Open in Pitt Meadows.
I played well in this past weekends Chilliwack Open. I shot rounds of 71-68 (-3) to finish tied for 1st with Philip Jonas and Bryn Parry. Bryn won the event on the 1st play-off hole. I won a cheque for $1300.
My career low of 62 came in the 1990 Cowichan Open. The round included 7 consecutive birdies. I won the tournament shooting a 2nd round score of 70 for a 132 total.
Julia creates a lot of speed with her swing. She creates a lot of width and sometimes reminds me of Davis Love III with her high hands position at the top. Making Julia's swing a little more compact will allow her the opportunity to deliver the club head to the ball in an even more energetic way.
I like the way Shanae swings her driver. She sets up with the ball just inside the left heel. She makes a nice turn behind the ball and then makes a nice release thru the ball into a balanced finish. If we could all swing like this with the driver, we would probably hit a lot more fairways.
Here I am with Julia using some tees to help her keep the putter working along the correct path. We tend to take for granted that our putter is always swinging correctly along the correct path. It's good to always reinforce good putting fundamentals with simple, little, drills. I use the Casio-EX-FS10 camera to get the slow-motion video.
I'm continually trying to shorten up my Driver swing and keep the club from crossing the line a little bit at the top. Setting the club a little quicker and keeping my arms feeling soft are always things I think about. Efficiency in the swing is always the goal for me in trying to get the hands to do a little less and the body a little more. Good arm/body blend creating loads of energy!!!
Mr. David Leadbetter says that is very important to continually teach younger kids the history of the game. The past champions and pioneers of the game can never be forgotten!
Just entered the Local Qualifying for the 2010 United States Open played at Pebble Beach Golf Links in California. The qualifying takes place at the Overlake Country Club in Medina, Washington on May 10th. My travelling companion and fellow competitor will be BCPGA Champion Doug Morgan!
Had a chance to enjoy David Leadbetter speak for 3 hours today at the Marine Drive Golf Club (where I used to work from 1997-2000). I found the presentation from Mr. Leadbetter to be very informative and funny. (the man knows his stuff!!!) Enjoyed the seminar very much!
My good friend Bruce Sweeney has a new movie in the works tentatively titled "Panoptic". He's shooting with a new Canon camera and he tells me the shootings so far have been awesome! Should be another Sweeney classic!
Shot 77 at Point Roberts today. Tee to green I was OK but not very good in the up and down department. Had 3 plugged lies in bunkers....most I've ever had in a round before. Putted below average and tended to pull quite a few putts.
Stats for Point Roberts:
10/14 Fairways
10/18 Greens
35 putts
77 (+5)

Spring Break Golf Camp
This past week was great to see all the young kids out. Lots of new young golfers as well as a few familiar faces. Also was nice to spend the week working with Julia and Shanae. I think both are very promising young golfers and have great futures in the game.
